Best Sellers Skin Care Routine

Are you ready to build one Eminence Organics Skincare routine but not sure where to start? To help you, we've rounded up the best of the best: these are the tried-and-true products that licensed estheticians and skincare enthusiasts (like you!) swear by. Keep scrolling for a day and night skincare routine that's suitable for all skin types and uses only our best-selling products.

Day Care Routine

Your morning skincare routine is all about preparation and protection: getting your skin in the right condition to face the day ahead. Here are five daily skin care steps to follow.

1. Clean

A thorough cleanse prepares your skin to absorb the ingredients for the rest of your routine. Skincare trainer from Eminence Organics Natalie Pergar advises: “You should always start with a cleaner. You can use a gel or milk depending on how dry your skin is and you want to do this morning and night. Very easy."

To get your morning routine off to a flying start, we recommend the Mangosteen Daily Resurfacing Cleanser. This milky cleansing gel uses lactic acid to gently dissolve dead surface cells and reveal the young, healthy cells underneath. The result is a fresh, radiant complexion without excessive stripping. The skin feels fresh and perfectly cleansed. Superficial deposits, impurities and blockages are removed and the complexion appears clear, smooth and radiant.

Alternatively, you can start your day with the Clear Skin Probiotic Cleanser. This is a clarifying cream gel cleanser that treats oily and problematic skin with cucumber and tea tree oil. Sweet almond milk and yogurt reduce the visible signs of problem skin and pimples without stripping the skin of its moisture.

Application tip: Test your water temperature

Hot water can irritate and dry out your skin; instead, cool things down with lukewarm water, which will keep your moisture barrier intact.

2nd tone

Many of us skip this step in our skincare routine. Why? We tend to associate toners with alcohol-based stripping astringents; However, today's formulas have evolved to deliver moisture and nutrients that even out skin tone and prime the skin. Natalie says, "Think of your cleanser and toner as a shampoo and conditioner for your skin… Remember to do both daily."

Try the Stone Crop Hydrating Mist – ideal for all skin types. This refreshing facial mist is enriched with stone fruit to promote hydration and leave skin looking smooth and revitalized. This toner is especially helpful for uneven skin types as it leaves skin looking perfectly clear, fresh and vibrant with a brightened glow.

Application tip: Apply to damp skin

According to Health Magazine: "Damp skin is ten times more permeable than dry skin." Apply a few squirts of toner or facial mist while your skin is still damp to reap all the benefits of skincare.

3. Treat

Natalie tells us, "After you've prepped the skin, it's time for any finishing products. We always like to do what is called a 'treatment' of your skin and this helps if you have something you want to minimize or reduce the appearance of.' Serums, concentrates and facial oils deliver active ingredients deep into the skin helping to correct concerns and protect the skin from damage caused by oxidative stress.

Three of our favorite treatments are the Citrus & Kale Potent C+E Serum, Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Serum, and Mangosteen Daily Resurfacing Concentrate.

Citrus & Kale Potent C+E Serum improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with vitamin C, leafy greens and botanical ferulic acid. The powerful vitamin C in this serum is stabilized by botanically derived ferulic acid. This serum delivers antioxidants to brighten skin, improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and reduce the appearance of free radical damage.

Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Serum contains Strawberry and Salicylic Acid to gently exfoliate and brighten skin's texture while promoting hydration. The Mangosteen Daily Resurfacing Concentrate contains a Lactic Acid Complex and antioxidant-rich mangosteen to renew skin, tighten pores and provide protection from environmental stressors.

Application tip: Less is more

Serums, concentrates and facial oils are incredibly effective. All you need to do is apply three drops (oils and serums) or two pumps (concentrates) to get the full effect.

4. Moisturize

All skin types need a moisturizer (yes, even if your skin is oily or acne-prone!). Moisturizing is a crucial step in keeping your protective moisture barrier intact and helping to keep hydration and environmental stressors at bay. During the day, Natalie recommends using an SPF moisturizer, which offers extra UV protection from sun exposure.

For a balance of hydration and SPF protection, we recommend Bright Skin Moisturizer SPF 40. Apply this two-in-one moisturizer to protect your skin from the sun's rays while minimizing the appearance of dark spots.

Application tip: add water

For easier application, emulsify a small amount of moisturizer in your hand with a few drops of water.

5. Apply eye cream

Eye creams aren't just for your nightly routine. The right formula can work wonders by waking up tired eyes, protecting this delicate area and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. Eye creams are best applied after serums and you only need a small amount for them to be effective, so try not to use them too often.

Our recommendations for a wide awake look? Hibiscus Ultra Lift Eye Cream and Neroli Age Corrective Eye Serum. This best-selling Advanced Instant Lift fX eye treatment quickly eliminates tired eyes, minimizes the appearance of dark circles and smoothes fine lines in under two minutes.

Neroli Age Corrective Eye Serum targets the appearance of under-eye wrinkles and crow's feet. A smoothing blend of coconut water and green apple fights fine lines and wrinkles while hydrating the delicate skin around the eyes.

Application tip: stay cool

Keep Hibiscus Ultra Lift Eye Cream in the fridge to enhance the soothing and cooling effects of the stainless steel rollerball. This adds an extra coolness to your eye cream application.

Skin care routine for the night

When your head hits the pillow, your skin goes into overdrive, repairing, regenerating, and rejuvenating while you sleep. That's why your nightly skincare routine is all about targeted treatments that address pesky skin issues and conditions.

1. Clean

Even if you go without makeup all day, it's important to wash your face morning and night. Washing at night helps remove impurities that have built up during the day and can clog pores, leading to dry, irritated skin and even breakouts. One of the best ways to get rid of buildup on your face is to do a double cleanse, starting with a cleansing oil or balm, followed by a second cleanser of your choice.

An ideal combination that we love is the Stone Crop Cleansing Oil and the Stone Crop Gel Wash. Enriched with moisturizing Stone Crop, Stone Crop Cleansing Oil gently removes impurities without damaging your skin's moisture barrier. Ideal for even the most sensitive skin, the Stone Crop Gel Wash washes away impurities without drying out the skin. The skin is perfectly cleansed without feeling dehydrated and superficial deposits and impurities are removed. We love Stone Crop Gel Wash for its ability to deep clean pores without irritation, leaving skin looking radiant and feeling soft and clean.

Application tip: Double cleaning

First, dissolve the makeup with a cleansing oil or balm. Then use an additional cleanser to remove dirt, dead skin, and grime. This two-step process removes both types of imperfections from your complexion.

2. Exfoliation

In addition to your regular cleansing, you should exfoliate a few times a week to promote healthy cell turnover and skin renewal. Daily exposure to environmental stressors can cause deposits on the skin's surface, making it appear dull, rough, and uneven. Regular exfoliation removes these deposits and prevents clogged pores and the development of fine lines and wrinkles.

Refine your skin with the Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant. Achieve a bright and radiant looking complexion with our Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant. Rice powder absorbs oil while lactic acid and salicylic acid remove dead skin cells. Just add water and watch this powder scrub transform into a luxurious paste that lifts away impurities, tightens pores and smoothes skin.

Application tip: Add a powder scrub to your cleanser

To save time, double your double cleaning. Add Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant to Stone Crop Gel Wash to add physical and chemical exfoliation to your cleansing routine.

3. Mask

Masking a few times a week is one of the best ways to quickly see visible changes in your skin. Face masks deliver concentrated amounts of vitamins and nutrients to hydrate skin and treat a variety of skin concerns and conditions, from fine lines and wrinkles to blemishes and large pores. The treatment you choose depends on your skin type and the conditions you want to treat.

However, all skin types can benefit from the Eight Greens Phyto Masque – Hot. This stimulating treatment brings both warmth and moisture. Paprika stimulates blood flow to create rosy and glowing skin, and honey moisturizes for a smooth, youthful-looking complexion.

Application tip: double mask

Combine Eight Green's Phyto Masque – Hot with the soothing sensation of Calm Skin Arnica Masque. Apply Calm Skin Arnica Masque immediately after the first mask to deeply hydrate skin and soothe redness due to dryness.

4. Treat

The best time to pamper your skin with results-driven active ingredients and intensely nourishing ingredients is at night to optimize your skin's natural repair process. Whether you choose an oil, serum or concentrate, ingredients like our natural hydroquinone alternative, natural retinol alternative and Smart Collagen+ Complex can help restore skin's appearance overnight.

Some great treatment options include the Facial Recovery Oil or the Bamboo Firming Fluid. Let your skin benefit from the biodynamic ingredients in Facial Recovery Oil. Biodynamic methods improve quality and deliver pure and powerful active ingredients that contain even more vitamins, nutrients and active ingredients.

Bamboo Firming Fluid is a skin-plumping concentrate that gives you firmer-looking skin. The strengthening active ingredients from bamboo and coconut provide moisture and improve the appearance of skin elasticity.

Application tip: Let it absorb

Natalie recommends allowing your chosen treatment to sit fully (usually around five minutes) before moving on to the next step in your routine.

5. Night Cream

It might be tempting to use your day cream at night, but their formulas are very different. Nighttime moisturizers are much richer and designed to be absorbed while you sleep. In addition, they aim to repair damage done to the skin throughout the day. They replenish moisture, repair the skin's moisture barrier and address specific issues such as dark spots and the visible signs of aging.

In the evening, it's important to replenish your skin with night creams like our Monoi Age Corrective Night Cream For Face & Neck and Coconut Age Corrective Moisturizer. Luxurious Monoi Age Corrective Night Cream is enriched with Monoi, Argan, Evening Primrose, Jojoba and Grapeseed Oils to deeply hydrate and replenish skin moisture. It contains one Argan stem cell complex which makes the skin look firm and youthful.

The Coconut Age Corrective Moisturizer has a firming and plumping effect on the skin. With each application, you will feel your skin tighten and tighten instantly. Coconut, shea butter and grapeseed oil smooth the skin's appearance.

application tip: Lock your neck

Much like the eye area, the neck has thinner and more delicate skin than the face, making it more susceptible to the signs of aging. When applying your night cream, be sure to include your neck: start at the collarbone and work your way up to the chin in smooth upward motions for a natural face lift.

6. Eye Cream

Because the delicate skin around your eyes is a different texture than the skin elsewhere on your face, applying your regular night cream isn't enough. Eye creams are not only formulated for this sensitive area, but also contain active ingredients that target the specific issues they are prone to, including dark circles, crow's feet and puffiness. At night, choose a rich formula that will deeply hydrate and plump your skin while you sleep.

At night, we recommend a soothing cream specially formulated for the eye area, like our Lavender Age Corrective Night Eye Cream. This rich eye cream is formulated for nighttime renewal. In addition to lavender and evening primrose oil, it contains a Argan stem cell complex that firms the skin and smoothes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Application tip: be gentle

The skin around your eyes is extremely sensitive. Instead of rubbing your eye cream in, use your ring finger to gently pat it into the skin.

Complete Guide To Collagen In Skin Care

It's no secret that collagen in skin care is the key to a youthful looking complexion. This structural protein provides the much needed support and stability to keep the skin firm, plump and elastic. Unfortunately, the body's collagen supply decreases rapidly with age. Read on to learn what collagen does for skin, the different types of collagen, as well as the benefits of collagen, and how it makes the skin look ageless.

What is collagen

Collagen is a smaller form of protein that helps build our tissues and organs, including our bones, muscles, skin, and even teeth. This structural protein takes its name from the Greek word "kolla", which means glue (a helpful reference to the role it plays in the body). Collagen is what holds our cells and tissues together and helps them maintain their shape, elasticity and strength.

Most of the collagen is found and produced in the dermis (the second layer of the skin). Here, fibroblasts synthesize strands of collagen that look like long braids or ropes. SELF says: “Individual amino acids combine to form long chains that are bundled together to form thicker strands. These strands then twist and wrap around each other to form triple helices. Eventually, these helices join end to end and stack on top of each other to form clusters called fibrils. ”These fibrils form a collagen network that gives the skin its underlying structure and support.

Collagen structure graphic

3 types of collagen

There are 28 types of collagen in the body, but Types I, II, and III are the most abundant. These three types account for up to 90 percent of the body's total collagen supply. Here's a breakdown of how they differ:

Type I collagen

Type I is the most common type of collagen and provides structural support for our bones, organs, and connective tissues (including the skin). It's incredibly elastic and can stretch significantly without breaking. In fact, an MIT study found that Type I collagen fibrils are five to ten times stronger than steel.

Type II collagen

Type II collagen is the building block of cartilage. Unlike Type I collagen, which is neatly arranged, Type II is more of a mess. This arrangement gives the cartilage its flexible, resilient property, which allows it to easily compress and dampen our joints.

Type III collagen

Type III collagen is most concentrated in the bone marrow and lymphoid tissue. Its narrow fibers are arranged in branches that support specialized cells that are involved in the formation of blood cells. It is often found in the skin with type I collagen and plays a key role in wound healing.

What does collagen do for the skin?

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the skin, and for good reason. This structural protein provides strength, support and elasticity to keep the skin firm, plump and youthful. Here's a closer look at how collagen benefits the skin.

Provides support and structure

Collagen fibers connect the tissue to one another. With their strong, plait-like composition, they function similarly to stable pillars that hold and support the top layer of skin. When you are young, these pillars provide the stability and rigidity that will tighten and lift your skin. This powerful foundation will keep the youthful shape of your skin intact. Sagging skin is a natural part of the aging process as the skin loses elasticity and collagen production.

Watch this In The Mix video to learn what products you can use to tighten, tone, and tone sagging skin.

Keeps the skin firm and plump

Together with elastin and hyaluronic acid, collagen is found in the dermis, the middle layer of the skin, which gives it volume, density and bounce. Together, these materials form a tight, flexible collagen network that keeps the skin firm, plump and supple. When abundant, collagen prevents skin from sagging and prevents wrinkles and wrinkles that contribute to fine lines and wrinkles.

Improves elasticity

Do you see this spring and spring in youthful skin? Credit the collagen. Collagen not only ensures a firm and plump complexion, but also improves the flexibility and elasticity of the skin. This not only prevents wrinkles from forming, but also reduces the appearance of stretch marks and cellulite.

Why do we lose collagen?

The skin contains an abundance of collagen at a young age, but it begins to decline as it ages. Dr. Hooman Khorasani, a triple board certified, scholarship trained cosmetic and skin cancer surgeon based in New York, tells us, “Our skin has a fine balance between collagen production and collagen breakdown. It can take up to six months for collagen to be synthesized in our body. As we get older, corticosteroids tend to stop the production of new collagen and accelerate the breakdown of new collagen. ”Exposure to environmental stressors accelerates this process even further. Unhealthy lifestyle habits (such as smoking and high sugar consumption) as well as stress, pollution and blue light UV rays cause free radical damage, which accelerates collagen breakdown. When we turn 20, we lose about 1 percent of collagen every year.

Collagen breakdown infographic

The result: visible signs of age

When we lose more collagen than we produce, the visible signs of aging quickly appear. Weakened collagen cannot provide much-needed structural support and when collagen levels drop, our skin thins, begins to sag, and develop fine lines and wrinkles.

As SHAPE explains, “When collagen is strong, your skin recovers instantly. However, when the collagen is weak, repeated movements cause permanent wrinkles. The skin doesn't have enough collagen to fill the furrow, so even if you don't squint or furrow, you can see a line, and it's not the same density to withstand gravity. "

Ingredients that stimulate collagen production

With collagen's numerous skin benefits, it's no wonder it's a hyped ingredient showing up in skincare. However, collagen in skin care isn't quite as simple as sticking to an ingredient list. Read on to find out why.

The problem with the size

The biggest (pun intended) problem with collagen is its size. Dr. Joshua Drawer told The Zoe Report: "Pure collagen molecules are too large to be absorbed by the body as they are." Because of their size, these beneficial proteins cannot penetrate the skin. Instead, skin care experts recommend using topical treatments that contain ingredients like peptides, retinol, and vitamin C that stimulate and protect your skin's natural collagen production.

Peptides

To circumvent the size problem, many topical treatments contain collagen peptides. These smaller chains of amino acids are more easily absorbed by the skin as they can pass through the outer layer of the skin. When they reach the dermis, peptides supply the skin's fibroblasts with the building blocks they need to produce new collagen. By applying peptides through skin care products, we can actually get the skin to make more of this essential protein.

Retinol

Retinol is another topical ingredient that stimulates collagen synthesis in the skin. According to SHAPE, “both retinoic acid and retinol turn on genes and cells that are involved in collagen production. They also help organize new and existing collagen. "

vitamin C

Antioxidants like vitamin C do a dual job of stimulating collagen production and protecting it from future breakdown. Vitamin C not only activates the skin's fibroblasts to produce new collagen, it also stabilizes the collagen that is already there and helps the skin stay firm, plump and youthful-looking for longer. Look for peptide sera that combine well with antioxidants including vitamin E and ferulic acid. Research shows that these nutrients increase the effectiveness of vitamin C by eight times!

Best Peptide Skin Care Products & Treatments

Wrinkles, fine lines, dry skin. Noticing changes in your skin can be worrying or even alarming, but peptide skin care products might be just the answer. Peptides are more than just a buzzword in skin care – they reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for visibly smoother, plumper and more youthful-looking skin. Let's examine the effects of these ingredients, their benefits, as well as spa treatments with similar collagen boosting effects.

What are peptides?

Peptides are a vital ingredient in skin care products that make the skin look plump and youthful. When applied to the face, peptides activate the production of proteins (such as collagen) in the skin. Collagen is important when it comes to improving the look of our skin. It acts as a building block for skin, bones, joints, teeth, muscles, joints and connective tissue and gives our skin firmness and elasticity. Unfortunately, collagen production decreases with age, which makes the skin look less youthful. By including peptides in your skin care regimen, you can dramatically improve the appearance of the tone and texture of your skin.

Curious about the effectiveness of these ingredients? Let's take a closer look at the product options and spa treatments below.

Spa treatments for smooth skin

Peptide skin care products aren't the only solution to strong, supple looking skin. Support your skin with collagen-boosting spa treatments; You can contact an Authorized Eminence Organics Spa in your area to see what services they offer.

Microneedling

Microneedling (or collagen induction therapy) is said to stimulate collagen production. This treatment creates thousands of microscopic punctures in the skin to induce wound healing. These micro-injuries trigger the skin's fibroblasts to synthesize new collagen and elastin. Stefanie Williams MD told Get The Gloss: “Medical needling gives the skin a gentle nudge to remind it to keep producing fresh collagen. It is a very natural regenerative treatment that helps the skin to help itself. "

Laser treatments

Fractional lasers are another point of contact. These work in a similar way to microneedling in that they cause tiny, controlled injuries that trigger the formation of new collagen. In this case, instead of medical needles, the skin care professional will use resurfacing lasers to stimulate collagen production. Dr. Drawer told Harper’s Bazaar: "Lasers work by punching microscopic holes in the skin, creating a controlled burn, and using the skin's ability to heal itself after wounds."

Microcurrent therapy

If your skin is in the early stages of the aging process, microcurrent treatments can be beneficial. This type of spa treatment is best for skin that is showing the earliest signs of aging as it conditions the skin's fibroblasts to function optimally and continue to produce healthy, high quality collagen. In microcurrent therapy, two metal rods that conduct weak electricity are pulled across the surface of the skin to stimulate and energize the facial muscles.

Summer Skin Care: How To How To Prep Your Skin For Summer

A sun-kissed glow may be high on summer beauty lists, but the right sunscreen is non-negotiable. More people are diagnosed with skin cancer in the United States each year than all other cancers combined, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation.

At the Eminence Organics, we want you to look good and stay protected. Here are some of our favorite summer skincare essentials, handpicked by our aesthetic experts, that are perfect for prepping your skin and lengthening its glow beyond the summer months.

Summer skin care for the day

Ingrown hair peeling

Because cell turnover is much slower on your legs, dead skin cells can build up quickly, hide stubborn ingrown hairs, clog your razor, and cause uncomfortable razor burn. Exfoliating your skin can lift any hair that is under dead skin and remove it more easily. Before you shave, use your favorite Eminence Organics body scrub to remove dead skin and expose razor-sharp skin.

Shave your legs with a moisturizing oil

While it's convenient, the best time to shave is not with your morning shower. According to Allure, "your legs swell slightly when you sleep, which can hide part of your hair." For a closer shave, wait until evening to pull out your razor and tackle any hair that would otherwise be hidden. Expert Tip: Shave near the end of the shower when your hair follicles are the softest. Apply a particularly moisturizing oil such as Apricot Body Oil for your shave. This oil replenishes the moisture in your skin while you shave, leaving your limbs soft and silky.

Protect the skin with sunscreen designed for exercise

Did you know that if you've had more than five sunburns in your life, the risk of melanoma doubles? If you are planning on spending time in the sun, protecting your skin from sun damage should be your top priority.

Protect your skin from harmful sun rays with Lilikoi Mineral Defense Sport Sunscreen SPF 30, formulated with zinc oxide. Whether you swim or do outdoor sports, this waterproof sunscreen will protect you from broad-spectrum UV rays all summer. Resistant to water activities and sweat for up to 40 minutes, this sports formulation will keep you covered from head to toe.

Use a replenishing mask to moisturize dehydrated skin

Chlorine (and salt water if you're a beach bunny) tends to strip oil from your skin, leaving your summer complexion dry and dry. Consider treating your skin with a regenerating mask to rehydrate your complexion. If you're suffering from too much sun and dry skin, our strawberry and rhubarb mask uses shea butter to provide the deep moisture you need to look plump and refreshed.

Lynne G., a reviewer from Eminence Organics, was not only delighted with the results of the skin care routine, she also drew special attention to the natural scent of the mask: “I love the smell. I love how smooth and clean my face feels after using this mask. The smell is I highly recommend it. "

After masking your skin to rejuvenate, keep your whole body rehydrated with plenty of water. Take down those eight glasses a day and keep your moisture levels up inside and out.

Switch to a moisturizer with SPF

Looking for a moisturizer that doubles as sunscreen? Our Lilikoi Mineral Defense Moisturizer SPF 40 can be multitasking all summer long. Formulated with zinc oxide and titanium oxide, this moisturizer uses these natural minerals to block UV rays. Lilikoi seed oil helps with the visible signs of aging, so the Lilikoi Mineral Defense Moisturizer not only protects the skin from the elements, but also leaves you easily hydrated and looking fresh and natural.

We also have three other all-mineral SPF moisturizers that are silicone-free and specially formulated for the face and neck. The Lilikoi Daily Defense Moisturizer SPF 40 protects against blue light stress and environmental pollution. Tropical Vanilla Day Cream SPF 40 has shea butter and a light vanilla scent – you will feel as if you have been transported to a tropical oasis. Our Bright Skin Moisturizer SPF 40 targets the appearance of dark spots, while the Red Currant Protective Moisturizer SPF 40 protects against the signs of aging and is good for oily skin times.

Apply makeup with SPF

If you are looking for another multi-purpose wonder, our mineral powders are doubly suitable as skin care and make-up products. For a more natural look this summer, swap your heavy makeup powder for a mineral powder from Eminence Organics with SPF 30. You can choose from five shades plus a translucent powder. Don't forget to protect your lips; Because they lack melanin, they are very prone to sunburn. Rose hip and lemongrass lip balm is fortified with rose hip oil, lavender, and zinc oxide to perfectly moisturize and protect your wrinkles.

At night: Repair your skin for a lasting glow

You have your skin prepped for summer, but during the night you can work your magic to make sure your complexion and body are repaired from sun damage. The sun's harmful effects don't stop when you've been looking for shade. The effects of UV exposure, including dry and itchy skin, can take two to four hours to fully develop. Replenish moisture with these after-sun essentials from Eminence Organics.

Replenish moisture with a repair balm

Does your skin suffer from exposure to the sun? Repair dry skin and reduce redness due to dryness with our rose hip and lemongrass repair balm. Enriched with rose hip oil, sunflower oil and a Natural Repair Complex, this ultra-rich balm provides moisture and protects the skin from the drying effects of the elements.

Apply a moisturizing moisturizer to help promote dryness

Give some relief to dry, itchy skin all over your body with Eminence Organics Rose Hip & Lemongrass Soothing Hydrator. The cooling properties of camphor and menthol refresh the skin while aloe and A. Natural repair complex help with drought. Try layering this lightweight moisturizer under the richer rose hip and lemongrass repair balm to lock in moisture.

Best Skin Care For A Humid Climate

Are you struggling with oily or oily skin because of the moisture? Hot temperatures are often associated with high humidity, which can cause skin problems. Breakouts, clogged pores, heat rashes, or bumps are common problems resulting from living in a humid environment. If you're wondering what products to use for your skin, we've rounded up some of the best products and ingredients to help protect your skin from the harsh effects of moisture.

What a humid climate does to your skin

In humid climates or during the summer months, people typically have oilier skin. If you have genetically dry skin, you can find relief by living in a more tropical climate as the air contains more moisture. However, the moisture in the air combined with the high temperatures will open your pores and make your skin more prone to dirt and blemishes.

According to dermatologists, moisture can trigger the following skin symptoms:

  • acne
  • outbreaks
  • Heat rashes
  • eczema
  • Allergic reaction

Do any of these symptoms sound familiar to you? Hot, humid weather also leads to fluid loss through sweating. Loss of moisture disrupts the water and oil balance in your skin, which can lead to undesirable skin problems such as increased sebum production, oily skin or pimples. For more information on the signs and symptoms of this skin type, check out our guide to oily skin.

If you live in a dry environment instead, you can read up on which skin care products work best in a dry climate. Otherwise, read on to learn more about skin care products for a hot, humid climate.

Best skin care products for oily skin

When you have oily skin, most people can't help but touch their face all the time, but this action spreads dirt and bacteria. A cleansing step in your routine will help keep your skin clear and refreshed. We recommend our Charcoal Exfoliating Gel Cleanser, which transforms from a gel into an exfoliating foam to wash away impurities and reveal a balanced complexion.

Don't be afraid to use oils if you have oily skin. Adding moisture to the skin helps reduce the oiliness as it slows down the production of sebum. The Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Serum gives your skin a youthful glow with hyaluronic acid, rhubarb and vitamin-rich strawberries. Strawberries have salicylic acid, which gently exfoliates the skin. In addition, botanical hyaluronic acid is a moisturizing ingredient that refreshes the appearance of the skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

To balance your skin, Eminence Organics Senior skin care trainer Natalie Pergar recommends using the strawberry-rhubarb mask once or twice a week. Again, it contains strawberries, rhubarb and shea butter as well as kaolin clay to create a mild exfoliation, remove impurities and reduce the appearance of pores.

Applying sunscreen is one of the most important steps in your daily skin care routine, but have you ever thought about using a powder product? If your skin is already feeling sticky and greasy to the touch, you may not want to use traditional sun care products that tend to have heavier textures. Try Eminence Organics' Sun Defense Minerals powder instead. This is a non-pore-clogging, hypoallergenic powder that serves as a light make-up powder with a sunscreen effect. Weightless and easy to use, our Sun Defense Minerals are a great option for hot, humid weather.

3 tips for dealing with oily skin in a humid climate

Now that you have a list of oily skin care products in mind, here are some helpful tips from dermatologists to help reduce excess oil.

Use blotting paper

Wipe off that shine with blotting paper! If you are worried about oily skin at work or with friends, you can quickly get one out of your pocket and blot off the excess oil in seconds. Your skin will look a lot duller. Just avoid rubbing the paper over your face as this will spread the oil to other areas.

Don't wash your face too much

It seems logical that cleansing would help with oily skin, but excessive cleansing (three or more times a day) can cause your skin to produce more sebum and excess oil. Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Loretta Ciraldo tells Allure that you only need to wash your face more than twice a day to remove contaminants like salt water after a swim in the ocean or sweat after a workout.

Look at your foundation

We recommended a mineral sun care powder above, and for good reason! It doesn't clog pores and feels light on the skin. It doesn't last as long as a foundation, but it's a better option for letting your skin breathe.

Best Skin Care For A Dry Climate

Do you live in a dry or desert climate and it makes your skin dry? If you've ever wondered what happens to our skin when there is a lack of moisture in the atmosphere, we are here to explain it to you. Whether you live in such an environment or notice skin changes while traveling, there are good reasons why your skin is reacting this way. We'll also look at the best products and ingredients to use as your skin adapts to a dry climate.

Is Moisture Good For The Skin? What a dry climate does to your skin

Dry skin occurs when the skin does not retain enough moisture. Some people have genetically dry skin, but it gets worse when they travel, move to specific areas, or when the seasons change. “The skin is driest in winter when the temperature and humidity drop,” explains Mayo Clinic. "The time of year may not matter that much if you live in desert regions." Others may have oily skin but develop dry skin because they live in a desert climate or in a location at high altitude.

How Eminence Organics Senior skin care trainer Natalie Pergar explained, a great altitude would be anywhere that is 2,000 feet and higher and where there is less moisture in the air. For example, a city like Denver, Colorado has a combination of factors that make up the perfect recipe for dry skin. Located 5,280 feet above sea level, it consists of an alpine desert environment with dry air, high altitude, and low humidity! So, if you are already prone to dry skin and move to a dry place like this, you may be dealing with worsening symptoms.

According to the Academy of Dermatology, symptoms of dry skin include:

  • Itchy skin
  • Flaky skin with a rough texture
  • Cracked and / or bleeding skin
  • Skin that is rough and painful to the touch (may sting or burn)
  • Wrinkled with a rough, fluffy texture (due to lack of moisture)
  • Skin infections such as crusts, discoloration, or swelling
  • Exfoliate, peel off skin

For more information on the signs and symptoms, check out our guide to dry skin here. If you live in a humid climate, here is a more suitable selection of products for you. Read on to learn more about moisturizing products that can help combat the lack of moisture in the air and relieve these symptoms.

The best skin care products for dry skin

Dry skin is caused by transepidermal water loss, in which water passively evaporates through the skin. To address the problem of water loss, Natalie recommends a face oil like Camellia Glow Solid Face Oil. Face oils are moisturizing skin care products that lock in moisture and moisture.

If you're looking for something light in the hot months, Facial Recovery Oil has a lighter texture and you can apply two to three drops to your face and neck. It contains clary sage oil, olive oil, sage leaf extract, and ylang-ylang to rejuvenate and deeply hydrate the skin.

Using a soapy or foamy facial cleanser is definitely not recommended for dry skin types. Try something moisturizing like the Coconut Milk Cleanser – coconut milk and virgin coconut oil soften and moisturize the skin while our inclusion BioComplex The formulation reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The Firm Skin Acai Cleanser contains protective ingredients such as sea buckthorn berries for the skin's moisture barrier and a cocktail of moisturizing ingredients including acai berry juice, botanical hyaluronic acid and raspberry juice.

Next, consider applying a luxuriously rich mask. The Snow Mushroom & Reishi Masque is designed to be extremely moisturizing and improve the appearance of elasticity and firmness. The mask formula contains reishi mushroom and birch water to improve hydration, paracress extract to make the skin appear firm and firm, and caffeine to revitalize the complexion.

If the dry skin is due to the climate, it is likely that your body, not just your face, has symptoms of dry skin. The apricot body oil is blended with a number of essential oils such as jojoba and grapeseed oil, making it ideal for a whole body massage. Put a fair amount of body oil in the palms of your hands to massage into your skin – you can also add a few drops to your favorite moisturizer. For a full body treatment, add one or two caps of apricot body oil to your bath.

3 tips to keep your skin safe in a dry area

Now that you've created a list of products for dry skin, it's time to consider some other small changes you can make:

Check your household products

If you're already struggling with dry skin from the climate, don't make it worse by coming in contact with laundry detergent or dish soap. Too often our household products, and even our shampoos, contain harsh chemicals that cause dermatitis or flaky, red, and itchy skin. You can read more about which ingredients to avoid in this blog post. You may find that wearing gloves will help your skin in the long run.

Use a humidifier

In winter, interiors with central heating can have a devastating effect on parched skin. A humidifier expels water vapor and returns moisture to the air. Long-term use prevents transepidermal water loss and dry skin. Some people also use humidifiers to relieve seasonal allergies and sinus congestion.

Stop taking long, hot showers

While a hot bath or shower can feel wonderful on itchy or dry skin, it can dry you out by stripping your skin of important oils. If possible, use warm or lukewarm water instead, and when you get out of the shower, moisten it from head to toe to prevent the moisture from leaving your skin.

The Oscars: Skin Care Products To The Stars

Daring stories. Iridescent sets. Impeccable costumes, hair and makeup. The Oscars are back despite a difficult year celebrating the best in cinema. The 93rd Academy Awards not only recognizes talented actors. It is also a ceremony honoring artistic and technical professions. Makeup, hair styling and fashion are in the spotlight as the world adjusts for the event to see the latest fashion and beauty trends.

And when it comes to skin care, the trend is towards a radiant, healthy complexion. Therefore Eminence Organic Skin Care was thrilled to supply products for the set of Hillbilly Elegy, a film nominated for Best Achievement in Makeup and Hair Styling in 2021. Directed by Ron Howard, the film contains Oscar-nominated actresses Glenn Close and Amy Adams, as well as Freida Pintowho was already a huge Eminence Organics fan! If you want to see what cleaners, toners, and other products these actresses used on set, read on.

Hillbilly Elegy: Make-up & Hair Styling

Back in May 2019 when the film was being shot, Eminence Organics received an email from Jamie Hess, one of the makeup artists he works with Eryn Krueger Mekash, the head of the movie's makeup department. Jamie mentioned that "between the glue, denture removers, and weather, keeping everyone's skin in tip-top shape (was) of the utmost importance," said she recently discovered Eminence Organics and was "absolutely in love with them". After providing some information about the stars' skin types and concerns, the Eminence Organics team created custom regimes for each star to be sent to the set.

Based on the bestsellers of the same name, Hillbilly Elegy J.D. Vance (Gabriel Basso) when he comes of age in an impoverished Ohio city. J.D. & # 39; s mother (Amy Adams) gets into a spiral of drug addiction and remains in the care of his grandmother. Freida Pinto completes the cast of the Netflix adaptation as a student at Yale Law School who is with Vance.

Thanks to the talents of Jaime, Eryn, Patricia Dehaney (Head of the hair department) and Matthew Mungle (Prosthesis designer), the star of Fatal Attraction, Glenn, is unrecognizable as the family matriarch Mamaw. Her transformation included an abdominal prosthesis, low jeans, boxy Reebok sneakers, oversized glasses, and frizzy dark hair. Similarly, Amy completely transforms into her character with the help of a hair styling, wardrobe, and makeup team.

As Eryn describes in her article posted on the Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild blog: “I coordinated a very precise application and timing with Jamie so our actors wouldn't wait long for the others to be ready . Glenn's application began with Patti in wig preparation, then she came to us. Jamie put on my right ear and I put on my left. While Jamie was painting Glenn's hands, I started applying the nose. As soon as I taped the nose in place, Amy would come with Patti to prepare the wig. "

When it came time to transform on set, makeup artist Glenn's face added a silicone nose and gelatin ears, as well as age spots, blemishes, freckles and veins. Despite the less glamorous transformation, the cast and complexions were kept healthy with Eminence Organics products. Needless to say, we'll be checking out the Oscar winner results on Sunday April 25th!
