  • Charging time of four hours

  • On the heavy side

  • Limited self-cleaning

  • May not fit under counters

With two dogs, two cats and a handful of children, I have the ideal environment to try out a wet and dry vacuum cleaner. Every day brings a seemingly endless stream of dirt, dust and hair into my kitchen and living room. When Roborock introduced the new Dyad wet and dry vacuum cleaner, I couldn't wait to see how this cordless stick mop handles everyday dirt and more.

Space-saving all-in-one design

Roborock Dyad wet and dry vacuum cleaner

My typical arsenal of cleaning tools includes a dustpan, broom, small stick vacuum, Swiffer mop for easy cleaning, and steam mop for heavy cleaning. All of these items take up a lot of space in my closet and leave little room for anything else. It was with great pleasure that I cleared the closet and replaced all my brooms and mops with the only Roborock Dyad. It is an all-in-one in function and weight. At 11 pounds, the Roborock Dyad is heavy to carry. Fortunately, the rollers help move the device around when you are actively vacuuming.

The Roborock Dyad replaced a handful of cleaning tools, which saved me space, time and money.

The dyad saved space in my closet, saving me time and money. Instead of using multiple tools and tons of cleaning supplies, I was able to sweep and mop with one device. I didn't have to worry about finding the dustpan. I didn't have to buy expensive refills for the Swiffer or pads for my steam cleaner. All I needed was some water and I was ready to go. The Dyad is equipped with an LCD that monitors battery life as well as clean and dirty water levels.

Excellent for daily cleaning

Roborock Dyad LCD

The dyad did a reasonable job cleaning my dirty kitchen floors. It picked up all of the pet hair and dirt on my floor as long as I was vacuuming every day. The front and rear rollers can rotate in opposite directions and help pick up even the toughest of dust and dirt. If I waited a few days, the animal hair would build up and I had to lightly sweep before continuing with the dyad. Likewise, it did a good job on everyday stains but struggled with deep stains like those found under and around the refrigerator or stove. The rollers provide some scrubbing to help with light stains, but those stubborn, ground-in stains require a lot of elbow grease that the dyad just can't apply. Battery life was as expected. It routinely took up to 25 minutes so I could vacuum multiple rooms.

Reaches almost all corners and edges

The Roborock Dyad is definitely not a standard vacuum cleaner with the head square and securely aligned with the body of the vacuum cleaner. Instead, the Dyad has a head that can be swiveled 180 degrees, which gives the device an initially unsettling, easy-going feeling. With the dyad, the head can articulate itself freely in a semicircle. You press the vacuum cleaner and the head moves according to the contour of the room.

Roborock dyad height

It also has an edge-to-edge roller that allows the vacuum cleaner to get deep into the nooks and crannies of your room. The dyad is tapered to fit under counters, but only on one side. One side is low enough to fit under the counter, but the other side is too bulky. I could easily clean edge to edge between counters, but I had to be extra vacuum cleaning if I wanted to reach all the way under.

The rollers were great at picking up dirt, but the rimless design meant I couldn't vacuum under all of my counters.

Practical, but not self-cleaning

I love how the Roborock Dyad handles dirt. The dyad sucks all the dirt and water off the floor and directs it into a dirty canister. No need to wash a cloth or buy a Swiffer refill. When you're done wet and dry vacuuming, simply empty that single container and you're ready for the next round of cleaning.

The self-cleaning function cleans the rollers so that you can wipe immediately.

After docking, the Dyad has a self-cleaning function that automatically rinses the rollers over the fresh water tank. It only takes a few minutes to wash the rollers and collect the dirty water in the dirt bin. In contrast to the LG CordZero, which empties the dirty water into the base, the Dyad does not empty itself. You have to drain the dirty water before you can start cleaning again.

Our opinion

The Roborock Dyad is an affordable wet and dry vacuum cleaner for anyone looking for a two-in-one floor cleaner without spending a fortune. It thoroughly cleans your floors and stores all debris in a single, easy-to-empty tank.

Is there a better alternative?

The Roborock Dyad is great value for money. It cleans your floor and doesn't cost an arm or a leg. It's not cheap, but at under $ 500, it is achievable for most people. However, not everyone will like the feature set and stick form factor. If you don't mind spending a little more, you can upgrade to the LG CordZero which does a great job at cleaning your floors and has a full self-cleaning mode that even drains the dirty water for you. Those who prefer the autonomy of a floor-based robotic vacuum cleaner should consider the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro +, which itself vacuums and mops quietly.

How long it will take?

The Roborock Dyad has a solid construction that can withstand everyday household use. Roborock's limited warranty covers all problems caused by defects in material and workmanship when used under normal conditions for one year from the date of purchase. Just make sure you use the wet and dry vacuum a lot for the first year to try it out.

Should you buy it?

Absolutely. For $ 449, the Roborock Dyad is a powerful, affordable wet and dry vacuum that picks up dirt, dust, and grime. Just measure out your kitchen cabinets to make sure the Dyad will fit underneath.

Roborock H7 Cordless Vacuum Review: It Packs a Punch

roborock h7 both vacuum cleaner and mop wireless lifestyle 3 of 4

Roborock H7 cordless vacuum cleaner

"Dyson is more careful because the Roborock H7 is an easy competitor with a heavy blow"

  • Improved loading times

  • Strong suction power

  • Effective air filtration

  • Easy assembly and storage

  • Limited cleaning time, especially in higher power modes

The new Roborock H7 cordless vacuum cleaner follows another recent release from the company – the Roborock H6 Adapt. While the H6 Adapt is an impressive vacuum cleaner that easily handles any challenge I have given it, the H7 is just as impressive and brings several upgrades to the table, including a dust bag.

The dust bag enables the Roborock H7 to pick up dirt and dust without it escaping into the air. It also ensures tidier disposal and easier cleaning of the vacuum cleaner. Below are our impressions after spending some time with the Roborock H7 cordless vacuum cleaner.

Accessories: a happy bunch

Like the Roborock H6 Adapt, the H7 comes with a full range of accessories and cleaning tools to help you reach every nook and cranny of your home. The H7 includes a baton, crevice nozzle, dust brush, flexible hose, motorized mini brush, multi-faceted brush and dust bag holder.

Almost all of these tools fit neatly in the docking station, allowing compact and space-saving storage of the vacuum cleaner when not in use. The dock charges the H7 when it is assembled, so you can pick it up and use it whenever you want. As an added bonus, almost all accessories are also magnetized. You can attach them to the side of the refrigerator or washing machine just as easily as attaching the dock.

With all of these accessories, it was easy to move the H7 from vacuuming a flour stain in the kitchen to cleaning the stairs. With the grout tool I was able to suck dirt out of the corners under the cabinets where my robot mop wouldn't get clean.

On its own, the Roborock H7 is a powerful vacuum cleaner, but with these accessories it's easy to use in almost any context – even when cleaning the car.

Performance: Strong suction meets easy handling

Like the H6 Adapt, the Roborock H7 also has several cleaning modes that are powered by a powerful motor. The 480 watt motor generates enormous suction power. There are three basic modes: Eco, Standard or Max. The LED display on the handle shows you which mode you are in and how much battery life is left.

The eco mode is the most energy efficient, but also the weakest of the three cleaning modes and ideal for most daily vacuuming work.

Standard mode is more powerful, but at the expense of the battery. Max mode is the most powerful option, but by far the loudest. Its suction power is almost enough to pull paint out of a car, but when dirt and dust are ground deep into your carpet, MAX mode will pull it out.

You don't have to hold down the shutter button either. A small button on the side of the handle activates sustain mode, which means that the vacuum continues to work even without pulling the trigger. This will save your hand a little bit of stress during those long cleaning sessions. Just press the Sustain button again to turn it off.

The Roborock H7 offers around 90 minutes of cleaning time on a single charge in eco mode. If you're still not done, don't worry – it only takes about 2.5 hours to fully charge, a significant improvement over the four hours it takes the H6 Adapt.

The air quality is in the foreground of the design

Roborock has gone to great lengths to improve air quality with their vacuum designs, and the H7 is no exception. A HEPA filter removes particles from the air during cleaning and stores them in a leak-proof trash can. The filter is designed to catch particles up to 0.3 microns in size.

The design of the vacuum means that no particles will escape through cracks in the vacuum and get into the air around you. However, if you want to take an extra step to improve your air quality, the Roborock H7 includes easy-to-follow instructions on how to install the dust bag.

My cat is losing a lot, but the Roborock H7 has taken in significantly more animal hair than the H6 Adapt.

This bag catches particles and enables easy disposal. Just remove the bag and throw it in the trash. The Roborock H7 includes two disposable dust bags, but replacement bags can be purchased.

After a few cycles, you may notice dust build-up in the front and rear filters, in the cyclone itself and in the trash can. All of these parts are removable and washable in normal water. Just run them underwater until completely clean, then let them dry completely for 24 hours before reassembling them.

Our opinion

The Roborock H7 brings small but necessary improvements to the Roborock range of stick vacuum cleaners. While it doesn't reinvent the wheel, the faster load time, optional dust bag accessories, and improved suction make it a solid buy for anyone.

Where the H7 really shines, at least in my experience, was cleaning pet hair. My cat is losing a lot, but the Roborock H7 has taken in significantly more animal hair than the H6 Adapt. While the price has risen to $ 500, the shorter charge time reduces the need for a spare battery for longer vacuuming jobs, which makes the added cost worthwhile.

How long it will take?

With proper care, the Roborock H7 will last for many years. Hard plastic gives it a lighter weight than the competition, but that doesn't mean it's prone to damage. Just keep it out of direct sunlight and the vacuum should hold for years. Should something go wrong, Roborock offers a one-year guarantee.

Is there a better alternative?

The $ 500 price tag might be a little prohibitive for someone on a budget. If you want to save costs, Shark Wand Vac is a great alternative that is both a cordless vacuum cleaner and a portable all-in-one. On the other hand, if you're looking for a top of the line vacuum and the cost isn't a deterrent, this is it Dyson V11 torque drive is a great option for a thorough cleaning of your floors.

Should you buy it?

Yes. Roborock has proven its commitment to constant improvement and quality, and the Roborock H7 is the best cordless vacuum the company currently has.

Roborock H6 Adapt Review: Clean Air Meets Clean Home

Customize roborock h6 rating

Roborock H6 cordless vacuum cleaner

"The unbelievable suction power of the Roborock H6 Adapt soaks everything up and at the same time keeps the air clean."

  • Light, with strong suction

  • Quiet, except in the highest suction mode

  • Five-stage air filtration to improve air quality

  • Numerous accessories make cleaning easier everywhere

  • Shorter battery life in high-performance mode

  • It takes four hours to fully charge

Robotic vacuums offer a consistent level of clean and unmatched convenience, but there are certain tasks they just can't do – cleaning the stairs, for example. Robotic vacuums are also not particularly suitable for on-site cleaning.

When a robotic vacuum cleaner is struggling, a cordless stick vacuum cleaner can do the job. Thanks to a number of vacuum cleaners that have appeared on the market in recent years, users have a wide range of choices. Now Roborock has added another option with the H6 Adapt, a Red Dot 2020 winner for its design.

The Roborock H6 Adapt combines five-step air purification with powerful cleaning and a lightweight design to provide a product that is not only easy to use, but can also improve air quality while keeping the house clean.

Small, light and powerful

The Roborock H6 Adapt is possibly the lightest stick vacuum cleaner I've ever used. The main body is only three pounds and the attachments barely weigh anything. It easily clears up dirt and doubles as a duster to keep the tops of the closet clean or to suck cobwebs out of the corners.

Since no stand is required, the H6 Adapt is the perfect vacuum for small spaces. You can just plug it in for charging, although it includes a wall mount that can charge the vacuum while doubling as an accessory rack. This is also a necessary addition as the H6 Adapt comes with a number of different accessories.

The main accessory is the baton, a 30-inch extension that fits any other accessory. The Adjust H6 There's also a larger carpet brush for vacuuming the floor, a motorized mini brush that's perfect for stairs, and a dust brush.

It also comes with a splitting tool for vacuuming tight corners and a flexible tube for accessing hard-to-reach areas. With all of these accessories, the H6 Adapt can clean a wide variety of different areas. You can use it to vacuum at the kitchen table, vacuum up flour in the kitchen and tidy up the car after a long drive.

Max Mode feels like it's vacuuming the paint off a car.

The battery is rated for up to 90 minutes of continuous suction power, although this will vary in actual use. The type of accessory and the cleaning mode you choose can have a significant impact, especially if you choose Max mode. This mode increases the suction power to the maximum possible level, but shortens the battery life considerably. That said, when you need to thoroughly clean an area, Max Mode feels like he's vacuuming the paint off a car.

Powerful suction meets air purification

Many people find stick vacuums less hygienic, and this is sometimes the case. In many vacuum cleaners, dirt particles can escape from the container, resulting in poorer air quality than at the beginning. This is not the case with the Roborock H6 Adapt.

As someone who is very allergic to cats but still owns one, the furniture in my house is vacuumed regularly. A couch is less relaxing when you sit on it and break out into beehives. Some vacuum cleaners only cause an allergic reaction by vacuuming cat hair, but the H6 Adapt does not.

I sneezed less, especially when using the higher power modes.

It holds the hair in its dust container and can remove up to 99.99% of all allergens less than 3 microns in size when cleaned. Roborock lists cat dander, along with dust mites, mold, pollen, dog dander, and other pollutants, as one of the particles it removes.

While I'm usually skeptical of air purification claims until they can be proven, the H6 Adapt has shown how effective it is. I've sneezed less, especially when I've used the more powerful modes for cleaning cat hair from furniture.

An LED display provides all the information you need

The H6 Adapt has an LED display on the handle that gives you information at a glance. Three main points are displayed: whether the vacuum is locked or unlocked, the remaining battery life and the current suction mode.

Knowing how much battery life is left is fantastic. It is shown as both a percentage and a specific time. You can see up to the second how much longer the battery lasts before you have to stop and recharge. This amount varies greatly depending on the mode. With a remaining battery life of 49%, the Eco mode (the lowest suction mode) offers a lifetime of just over 41 minutes, while the standard suction mode offers just over 21 minutes and the maximum suction mode only offers a lifetime of just over 21 minutes five minutes.

There is a button at the end of the handle that allows you to switch between suction modes as needed, as well as a button on the side that locks the vacuum. That way you can let go of the trigger and it will keep working. Goodbye, aching fingers!

After a minute of inactivity, the screen will automatically turn off to save battery life. It takes approximately four hours to fully charge the battery after you wear it out. So if you have a large house and want to vacuum the entire area, it is a good idea to get a spare battery.

Simple dirt disposal

All stick vacuums work roughly the same way, with a release latch to open and empty the dust bin. Too often this latch is at the bottom of the dust bin – in other words, when you open it, dust and grime shower on your hand.

The Roborock H6 Adapt provides a simple solution for this. There is a switch just below the trigger that opens the dust container. Hold the vacuum over the trash can and press the switch to toss the contents of the trash can into the trash can. The top of the vacuum opens to allow access to the filter in case it ever needs to be replaced. The entire vacuum has a modular structure so that parts can be exchanged without any problems.

Our opinion

The Roborock H6 Adapt is a great option that allows for thorough cleaning while addressing household air quality issues. Its light weight makes it a great solution for those who may not be able to lift heavy weights. The $ 450 price tag is steep, but the H6 Adapt is cheaper than some of its competitors like the Samsung Jet 90 ($ 649) or the $ 600 Dyson V11.

How long it will take?

The Roborock H6 Adapt is made of hard plastic. This durable material makes it lighter than the competition, but that doesn't mean it's weak. The vacuum feels strong, so I expect it to last for years, especially with proper maintenance. Should something go wrong, Roborock offers a one-year guarantee from the date of purchase.

Is there a better alternative?

If you're looking for a comparable suction device at a cheaper price, consider the Tineco Pure ONE S11 for $ 300. A few bells and whistles are missing, but the job is done for less. On the other hand, the Dyson V11 Torque Drive is top notch when it comes to raw cleaning power. While you are paying more, your carpets are clean.

Should you buy it?

Yes. Air filtration improves the quality of the air in your home by ensuring that dirt and allergens stay tightly trapped in the vacuum.

Roborock S7 Review: Finishing Up the Cleaning at Sonic Speed

Roborock S7 Review side view

Roborock S7 robot vacuum test: wipe up at the speed of sound

"The ability to vibrate at up to 3,000 times per minute means superficial stains disappear faster."

  • Smart navigation makes it efficient

  • Quiet operation

  • Sonic mopping requires fewer passes to mop

  • Goes over partitions / humps with ease

  • On the expensive side

  • The rubber brush can still get tangled

Roborock has had an incredible ride over the past few years. The company, which was once an unknown player in the field of robot vacuum, competes against some of the heavyweights like iRobot, Shark and Ecovacs, thanks in part to its diverse and powerful models.

The latest model, the Roborock S7, has the same basic ingredients that made its previous bots such a success, such as a combination of vacuum and mop, but its differentiator over the competition is its sonic vibration technology with wiping. Bad spots could soon be a thing of the past if this new implementation actually works.

A well-known bot that cleans efficiently

The Roborock S7 is not that different from its siblings. There are a few subtle changes such as: B. fading in and out "breathing" LED lights, a more compact water container and above all a new solid rubber brush. Aesthetically, it doesn't differ from previous designs we've seen from Roborocks Bots. The same characteristic features are present here, such as the protruding lidar sensor array, the rubberized side sweeping brush and the all-plastic construction.

Roborock S7 Review top viewJohn Velasco / Digital Trends

In terms of cleaning, the Roborock S7 cleans efficiently thanks to its lidar-based navigation. It accurately maps rooms and does a good job of avoiding most obstacles. The occasional cord on the floor can trip it, but it can navigate challenging spaces by trying to clean in straight lines. The sweeping brush on the side guides dirt well to the solid rubber brush on the underside. However, after a few cleaning sessions, I found that the hair was curled up and tangled in the center of the brush.

Still, he manages to vacuum up some of the annoying pieces of trash in my apartment. Carpets are treated decently as with their 2500 Pa suction they pick up most of the superficial things but not nearly pick up the hard, embedded parts my cordless vacuum cleaner can collect.

Is Sonic Mopping Technology Legitimate?

The marquee of the Roborock S7 is its new sonic mopping technology. All of Roborock's previous vacuum cleaners use the pulling method. Honestly, I'm happy with it, but it doesn't necessarily disinfect surfaces – something very few bots can do.

Fewer passes are required to remove stains from solid surfaces.

The S7's sonic mopping technology has a new brush attachment and microfiber mopping pad with a better feel. What happens here is that the mopping pad vibrates at a speed of up to 3,000 times per minute. It's different, yet effective, in that it requires fewer passes to remove stains from solid surfaces – like tiny drops of dried coffee on tiles. Now the hard, deep stains aren't removed, like the streaks that sneakers can leave on tile and that a good old mop with enough pressure and scrubbing can achieve. But hey, at least it wipes floors as efficiently as vacuum cleaners. Time is money so I'm impressed with how quickly the job gets done, although I would still love to find a way to sanitize surfaces.

Roborock S7 Review bottom view

Even better, the S7 pulls back the mopping pad as it passes over bumps, partitions, and carpet, and then brings it back down to apply the pressure it needs to sonic wipe. Other 2-in-1 combinations require you to remove the mopping pad so that they can vacuum carpets.

You can hardly hear it being cleaned

With two people working from home and having conference calls all day long, I'm very impressed with how quietly the Roborock S7 cleans. It's loudest when it comes to carpets, but it's almost unnoticeable as it cleans wood floors and tiles. There is a slight hum when it is swept, but it's quiet enough to be drowned out with some background music.

Roborock S7 Review LidarJohn Velasco / Digital Trends

In addition, the Roborock S7 is a competent robotic vacuum cleaner as it is equipped with all the modern conveniences that I long for. This includes the support of voice assistants such as Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, the ability to set up virtual boundaries / restricted areas and to clean certain rooms. All of this makes the Roborock S7 a well-rounded bot that can clean quietly and effectively while you are at home.

Our opinion

There is nothing that the Roborock S7 cannot handle. It cleans well, doesn't waste time, and its new wiping system is a small but effective step forward. It's not a game changer in the world of wiping, but changing it just makes it more efficient.

The only disadvantage of this otherwise pinpoint robot vacuum is its price. At $ 649, it is almost at the top of the Roborock product range – only surpassed by the camera-dead Roborock S6 MaxV. It's a tough sale as I prefer the added functionality of the S6 MaxV's built-in camera for intelligent obstacle avoidance and live streaming.

How long it will take?

Even with the all-plastic construction, the S7 has some serious problems. The only problem I have is the plastic part on the mop pad attachment that allows it to vibrate back and forth. It seems to be on the fragile side, especially when the pad is removed from the Velcro straps. However, there is a 1 year limited warranty.

Is there a better alternative?

Yes, the Roborock S6 MaxV mentioned above isn't too far off in terms of price – a compelling option due to the advantages of its integrated camera. It cleans just as effectively whether vacuuming or mopping.

Should you buy it?

Yes, just because some people are not yet familiar with the idea of a vacuum with a camera. The Roborock S7 is essentially the S6 MaxV without a camera, but with an improved wiping system.

Roborock S6 MaxV Review: This Robotic Vacuum Has Eyes

Roborock S6 MaxV lifestyle

Roborock S6 MaxV Review: It can find and avoid your socks

"It's not perfect, but the Roborock S6 MaxV can detect and avoid clutter when cleaning."

  • Efficient cleaning

  • Strong suction power

  • Long battery life

  • Accurate map layouts

  • Has trouble recognizing some obstacles

  • It is expensive

Robotic vacuum cleaners save time, which we could all use. In the world of robot vacuum cleaners, innovations have become more and more convenient, including bots that empty their trash bins themselves and two-in-one models that wipe. Despite all these advances, some lack the intelligence to intelligently avoid clutter in the home.

The Roborock S6 MaxV hopes to change this with a pair of cameras equipped with reactive AI obstacle detection and a Qualcomm chip. Can it actually dodge and weave? Or is it still getting upside down in trouble?

Avoid hit-or-miss obstacles

When I gave the Roborock S6 MaxV a whirl for the first time, I was curious whether it could intelligently bypass or clean obstacles.

It definitely looks like this. First, there is a raised window on top that stores the bot's lidar navigation system, which is used to map rooms. From there it goes on to the vacuum floor, while two cameras in the front take pictures at 30 frames per second (FPS) to avoid obstacles.

I usually spend some time pre-cleaning before cleaning – lifting dog bowls off the floor, putting clothes away, and making sure the charging wires on all my devices are tucked away properly. However, the new Roborock wants to eliminate this process.

John Velasco / Digital Trends

I was glad that I managed to clean a small box that I left in the middle of the floor. In another case, it crept slowly to a sneaker and then sucked around it.

To really test his ability, I left a few whoppers on the floor to simulate what could happen if your pet left a surprise on the floor. The first two piles were cleaned perfectly around them, but not the third – it was run over instead. So it could avoid your four-legged friend's accidents … or not.

Robotic vacuum cleaners also have problems in closed, confined spaces. They often pinch themselves in a position that they cannot leave. With a Qualcomm APQ8053 processor that works behind the scenes in conjunction with its stereo cameras, I was hoping that the Roborock S6 MaxV would avoid such complications.

I was disappointed to see that it got stuck in the small crack under my entertainment center and forced me to get in to save the day. I was even more annoyed that it was having trouble recognizing the beveled edge of my side table – so it kept dancing back and forth as it moved along that beveled edge. This is actually not uncommon since all of these vacuum cleaners have difficulty cleaning these oddly shaped devices.

I was disappointed that it got stuck in the little crack under my entertainment center.

Overall, object detection appears to be a hit or miss. The Roborock S6 MaxV didn't seem smart enough to work without supervision. However, future firmware updates that optimize learning skills may make it smarter. Other robotic vacuum cleaners don't have this luxury, including more expensive bots like the iRobot Roomba S9 Plus and the Neato D7. You will just run over everything on your way.

An efficient cleaner

Thanks to its lidar navigation system, the Roborock S6 MaxV is an efficient cleaner. Seriously, it doesn't waste time. It tends to follow an S-pattern when cleaning open spaces and go through for quick and efficient coverage. That's the beauty of the technology used by some other vacuum cleaners worth over $ 500, like the Eufy RoboVac L70 and the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 930. It is practically a matter of course that these vacuum cleaners perform well thanks to the integrated lidar navigation.

Corners are also not suitable because the single rubber brush sweeps up dirt in the direction of the underside brush. It's worth noting that unlike the bristle brush used by most vacuum cleaners, it's rubber, so it lasts longer. In addition to the exceptional cleaning capabilities, the model's 2500 Pascal (Pa) suction power is the strongest in Roborock's product line. It collects almost everything on its way.

Carpets are firmly cleaned thanks to the strong suction power, but long strands of hair can sometimes clump together and get tangled in the roller. Fortunately, it can be easily removed as there is a cleaning tool to remove these tangles.

John Velasco / Digital Trends

In addition to vacuuming, you can also wipe with the S6 MaxV by attaching the supplied pad and filling the removable water tank on the back of the robot. The best thing about it is that it saves time having to do separate cleansing, so you vacuum and wipe at the same time. As dirt collects through the front, these vacuumed surfaces are wiped off during movement. The wiping performance is no different from other vacuum cleaners I have tested. Water splashes from below and is then evenly distributed by the pad on the floor as the robot moves forward.

The Roborock S6 MaxV is an efficient cleaner.

I am impressed with how well it is able to clean rooms. In places where there may be more dirt, such as near the litter box, a second pass is required to completely cover the area, but that's all.

Because of its efficiency, it is able to clean my entire apartment without needing to charge it – it has been cleaned with a lot of battery for 50 minutes without interruption / the battery life is also better than many of its competitors – it is designed for 180 minutes would be more than enough to vacuum and wipe my place twice. For comparison: The iRobot Roomba i7 has a maximum runtime of 75 minutes.

App that rocks

The Roborock app offers a wealth of useful tools and insights into cleaning the Bot Vac. I am particularly amused by the card they created for my apartment. It intelligently recognizes spaces on its own. I can clean a specific room by selecting it on the map.

It also shows what objects it comes across when cleaning. Do you remember the "shit" it could see? Well, it is clearly visible where it was found on the map. Small details like this make the app better than others I've tested. It doesn't happen often that an app helps me track down a missing pair of socks.

The app provides insight into maintenance and how many hours are left before the filter, side brush and main brush need to be replaced or cleaned.

While the Roborock S6 MaxV can clean independently, I can take full control of the robot vacuum cleaner manually using the screen control with the app. It's like operating a remote-controlled toy. Useful? Maybe not, but it's definitely fun.

It's like operating a remote-controlled toy.

If the app is not your thing, there is always voice control. It supports Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. I can order him to start cleaning – or return to his charging station.

Our opinion

There is still work to be done before I can trust this robot vacuum to be cleaned by itself without me having to oversee it. On a positive note, it's a two-in-one bot that can suck and wipe – something that works very well. It's expensive at $ 749, but it's better than another robot with a camera, the $ 1,150 Deebot Ecovacs 960.

Are there any better alternatives?

Yes, but you won't find many that include object detection cameras. The Deebot Ecovacs 960 is a similar option, but more expensive.

Roborocks S5 is a combined vacuum and wiping robot that costs less than $ 500. It's worth a look if you don't (or don't want) high-end room allocation and object detection features.

How long it will take?

There's a lot of technology in this, so it wouldn't be a surprise if people were worried about longevity. As long as proper maintenance is carried out, e.g. For example, removing tangled cables from the brushes and removing the various sensors, the Roborock S6 MaxV should work in perfect condition. In the event of a manufacturer defect, there is a 1-year limited warranty on parts and labor.

Should I buy it?

Yes, if only because it is much cheaper than its closest rival.
