Sensitive Skin Care: Signs, Symptoms And Best Skin Care Routine

Does your skin have a sensitive side? This skin type can be tricky to care for – and choosing the right skin care products can feel like throwing the dice. One misstep and you could worsen your temperamental complexion and produce a myriad of uncomfortable symptoms. Here's everything you need to know about sensitive skin, plus our tips to keep it calm, cool, and collected.

What is sensitive skin?

Sensitive skin does not manifest itself in the same way in everyone due to its wide variety of symptoms. Its severity can range from moderate discomfort to severe reactions, and its frequency can vary from the occasional flare-up to more persistent daily sensitivity.

Eminence Organics Product supervisor and certified beautician Josie Barton Says: “Sensitive skin is typically described as skin that regularly endures unpleasant sensations such as heat, stinging, burning and tingling sensations caused by forms of stimulation that would not normally result in this type of reaction in a“ normal ”skin type. ” If you find that your skin is easily irritated by environmental stressors like sun, wind, and pollution and / or topical products like lotions or fragrances, you may have sensitive skin.

This skin type is usually described as skin that regularly experiences unpleasant sensations such as heat, stinging, burning, and tingling sensations caused by forms of stimulation that combine this type of reactionnormal skin type.

Sensitivity to irritation versus allergic sensitivity

According to Dr. Hooman Khorasani, Dermatological and Cosmetic Surgeon, there are two different types of sensitivity – irritation sensitivity and allergic sensitivity.

"Sensitivity to irritation is irritating to everyone's skin and is independent of your immune system. Although most areas of skin react to irritants, someone with sensitive skin would see a more dramatic reaction," explains Dr. Khorasani. These symptoms can include itching, redness, dryness, rashes or breakouts In comparison, allergic sensitivity is dependent on your immune system and requires prior exposure to the allergen. Since allergic sensitivity is due to each specific immune system, unlike irritation sensitivity, only a portion of the population is affected.

Whatever the cause, sensitive skin is a skin type that is caused by a genetic predisposition to skin sensitivity and irritation. It's also a common symptom of genetic disorders like psoriasis, eczema, and rosacea. You can't change your skin type, but you can adjust your daily habits as well Skin care routine to treat its symptoms.

How to know if you have sensitive or sensitized skin

Another point of confusion with your potentially sensitive skin is whether it is sensitive at all – or whether it is actually sensitized. Sensitized skin is a skin condition characterized by skin irritation that develops over time due to environmental factors and lifestyle choices. Skin care from Alana Says, "Some of the biggest factors that cause sensitized skin are pollution, stress, and alcohol use." In contrast to sensitive skin, the symptoms of sensitized skin can be "fixed" over time with targeted skin care products and lifestyle changes.

Sensitive and sensitized skin share a key trait – an impaired lipid barrier. Your skin's lipid barrier is the protective, oily outer layer that performs two functions: It keeps water and environmental stressors (such as UV rays, harsh chemicals, and pollution) away. Emily Newsom, MD says to YOURSELF: "You can think of your skin barrier as a wall, which is put together with mortar between the skin cells." This mortar is weakened and more permeable for sensitive or sensitized skin. When an irritant creeps through the lipid barrier, your immune system triggers an inflammatory response. This reaction – characterized by redness, pain, and itching – is what you experience as sensitivity.

Sensitive skin symptoms and signs

Signs of sensitive and sensitized skin also overlap. However, sensitized skin symptoms often go away once the lipid barrier has been repaired, while they tend to be more persistent in sensitive skin. Both are displayed A range of symptoms that occur minutes to hours after exposure to a particular ingredient or environmental trigger. Here are five tell-tale signs of sensitive skin:

1. Rinses easily

Whether your The face turns red after cleansing or just from a cool gust of wind. Your skin's tendency to blush is a sign that its barrier function is impaired.

Everyday health Says: "Regardless of whether your face turns red after cleansing or is just exposed to a cool gust of wind, your skin's tendency to blush is a sign that its barrier function is impaired." This redness is due to an inflammatory response in your immune system. When you try to heal, blood rushes to the surface of your sensitive skin.

2. Prone to rashes and bumps

When exposed to a trigger, sensitive skin on the face often reacts with a red, flaky, or bumpy rash. According to Healthgrades, this is especially true for topical products like facial serums and moisturizers that are left on the skin and are not meant to be rinsed off.

3. Itches

In addition to rashes and bumps, sensitive skin can become itchy and tight, especially after cleaning with products that contain harsh chemicals or artificial fragrances. It is often associated with dryness and / or dehydration, which can make the skin feel prickly and parched.

4. Beauty products sting or sting

Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi tells Curls: "You know you have sensitive skin when most of the products you put on your skin cause stinging or redness."Since sensitive skin has a broken lipid barrier, fragrances and active ingredients can penetrate more easily and deeply and cause a stinging, burning or tingling sensation.

5. Responds to scent

Dermatologists agree that fragrances are one of the most well-known causes of skin irritation and sensitivity. From laundry detergents to personal care products, many consumer products contain synthetic fragrances that can cause a reaction in sensitive skin.

How to get rid of dry skin

Dry skin can be made worse by external factors such as hormones, environmental stress, and seasonal changes. Here are some simple ways to keep dry skin soft and plump.

1. Moisten

Moisturizers are a no-brainer for dry skin care. Oil-based ointments, creams, and lotions that are high in essential fatty acids (EFAs) make up for the lack of oil and lipids in dry skin. They lubricate the surface of the skin and strengthen the skin's moisture barrier to replenish and lock in the much-needed moisture.

"If you're deciding on a moisturizer for dry skin, consider using a stronger moisturizer and looking for ingredients like hyaluronic acid …" explains Dr. Hooman Khorasani, Dermatological and Cosmetic Surgeon. “It is known that these provide the skin with moisture. Other ingredients to look for might include shea butter and lactic acid, which are great for moisturizing and exfoliating. "

Pro tip: Apply moisturizer while your skin is still slightly damp to lock in extra moisture.

2. Monitor your water temperature

Extreme temperatures make an already dry complexion worse by stripping the skin of essential oils. Joshua Draftsman, M.D.tells EVEN: "The water in your shower should be the temperature you would imagine for a heated pool – about 84 degrees Fahrenheit." If hot showers are non-negotiable, limit them to no more than 10 minutes to protect dry skin.

3. Use gentle ingredients

Like extreme temperatures, harsh cosmetic ingredients can compromise the skin's moisture barrier, causing dryness and irritation. To protect your skin, avoid products that contain chemical ingredients such as parabens, petrolatum, mineral oils, propylene glycol, or sodium lauryl sulfate.

4. Protect your skin in winter

Dry winter air also contributes to the dryness of the skin. In the winter months there is less moisture in the air, which means that the moisture in your skin evaporates faster. To compensate, Harvard Health recommends using a humidifier and setting it to about 60%. This is enough to replenish the lost moisture in the top layer of skin.

5. Adjust your diet

You can improve your skin's ability to retain moisture by adding healthy fats to your diet. Omega-3 and Omega-6 oils support skin health by fighting inflammation and strengthening the skin's moisture barrier. Foods that are high in healthy fats include salmon, flax seeds, walnuts, and sunflower seeds.

Now that you know how to treat your dry skin, there are also a number of gentle products you can consider that are helpful for relieving dry skin on your face. One of the best ways to fix this is to customize yours Skincare routine with moisturizing products that replenish and repair. We recommend the following routine to heal and soothe dry skin so you can feel normal again.

Ultimate Guide For Dry Skin: Causes, Treatment and Skin Care Routine

Does your skin feel rough and flaky all year round? Everyone's skin suffers from dryness on occasion, but a more persistent struggle can be a symptom of your skin type. Read on to learn more about dry skin and find our recommendations for reducing and relieving dryness.

What causes skin dryness?

Like all skin types, dry skin is genetic. It is characterized by an insufficient supply of sebum (which lubricates the skin) and lipids (which keep the skin's moisture barrier intact). Without these essential materials, the skin loses its ability to produce and store sufficient moisture. On the surface, this deficiency shows up as dry, flaky skin and a dull complexion.

The skin also becomes thinner and drier with age. Over time, the skin's hyaluronic acid stores decrease due to the body's natural aging processes. This naturally occurring substance, which attracts and retains moisture, is critical to keeping the skin soft and supple.

As the hyaluronic acid wears off, the skin loses its ability to hold onto hydration and becomes drier and more brittle.

Dry skin is often confused with dehydration, but they really are very different. While dehydration is preventable and easy to treat, dry skin is a skin type that requires ongoing maintenance to be cared for. You can get stuck with dry skin, but the right skin care routine can make a world of difference.

Glass Skin And Dolphin Skin: How To Get The No-Filter Face Of Your Dreams

How can we forget the glass skin, the 2017 Holy Grail Korean beauty trend that sought us out for a way to achieve a moist, porous complexion? Skin so flawless that it shimmers like glass.

Now we have another similar trend that is making a splash and coming from a rather unlikely source: dolphins. We're excited about these trends, not because of their goals of achieving translucent perfection, but because they promote skin care maintenance and thorough routines. Let's dive deep into glass skin and dolphin skin – and find out how you, too, can shine brightly like a diamond (or in this case a dolphin).

From K-pop, Korean soaps and celebrity looks, South Korea brought us a lot of influences. How many of us have experimented with snail mucin creams and ampoules or looked for a definition of “chok chok”?

In case you were curious, “Chok Chok”, translated “wet skin,” was one of the first wet skin trends that caught our attention. The glass skin trend soon followedHis trend calls for skin that is so porous and moisturizing that it shines like a sheet of glass.

Dolphin skin is similar to glass skin in that both trends are about moisture. The main difference, however, is that the look of the dolphin skin requires layers of highlighter and blush. The highlighter is designed to fall over the heights of your cheekbones like rays of sunshine, giving you a slippery, fresh out of the water look, like you had smooth skin like the aquatic mammal.

Don't stress, we have developed a routine to help you get there with our ideal ingredients.

How to Get Glass Skin and Dolphin Skin: An Overview

The solution to achieving glass and dolphin skin is a routine that includes products that gently exfoliate and remove dead skin cells and products that moisturize the skin. For both skincare looks, the routines are nearly identical, except that for dolphin skin, the final step is to apply makeup (see below).

An example routine would be:

Star Ingredients For Your Skin Care Routine

Step 1: double cleaning

The backbone of Korean skin care is double cleansing, and it's an essential step for both of those skin care looks too. With a two-step technique, a double cleansing removes dirt, sebum and make-up.

The big issue here is Hydration. In terms of ingredients, look for cleansers that contain moisturizing oils like sunflower oil, which is high in vitamins A, D, and E or jojoba oil as it is easily absorbed by the skin. You may also want to choose detergents that contain very mild ones Peeling properties for simultaneous cleansing and gentle peeling.

Even if you're not wearing makeup, double cleansing has advantages. An accumulation of sun protection factor, sebum and dust from the air can clog pores and lead to blemishes.

Step 2: exfoliate

One step towards clearer skin is peeling – physical or chemical peeling. This process removes dead skin cells from the skin's surface and smoothes the texture by removing debris.

If you're wondering what the difference is, a chemical peel uses naturally occurring enzymes or acids like alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) and beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs) to remove dead skin cells. Physical peels are products like peels that contain small granules or pearls, or tools like a brush for manual exfoliation.

The Mangosteen Daily Resurfacing Cleanser is an example of a chemical peel as it contains lactic acid. In comparison, a product like the turmeric energizing treatment is a physical exfoliator that scrubs the skin with the grittiness of zeolite and turmeric powder.

Step 3: toner

Now for the step so many of us skip! Perhaps you have had bad experiences in the past with toners drying you out? Don't worry, alcohol-based toners are a thing of the past and are definitely not recommended in a glass or dolphin skin routine.

The purpose of a toner is to rebalance your skin's pH, moisturize it, and allow it to penetrate the skin better. We want to use toner with moisturizing ingredients like moisturizing and nourishing coconut milk and oils like neroli oil for hydration.

Step 4: essence

Essence is the epicenter of Korean skin care, a lightweight formula that restores moisture and moisturizes your complexion. They apply essence to a clean face to prepare the skin for the next products like serum and moisturizer.

For the glass and dolphin skin look like essences with ingredients like Botanical collagen helps with elasticity and improves the barrier function. Look for ultra-moisturizing antioxidants like snow mushrooms that help skin look stronger and healthier. Other powerful ingredients, like reishi mushrooms, can aid in hydration and are a powerful source of antioxidants that help minimize puffiness.

Step 5: serum and oils

Keeping your skin hydrated is important when looking for a moist complexion. And you can do this with both serums and oils. Typically, facial serums are used to solve certain skin problems, while oils are used to help moisturize. And maybe you want to do both here depending on if you have problem areas. The great thing about Korean skin care is that the routines are customizable.

Our example Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Serum targets hydration and the visible signs of aging. It contains a botanical hyaluronic acid (made from marshmallow plant extract) that is deeply moisturizing, smoothing and replenishing the appearance of the skin to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This serum also targets the appearance of wrinkles by using a BioComplex, a booster made from antioxidants, Coenzyme Q10 and Alpha Lipoic Acid to reduce the appearance of fine lines and signs of aging.

You can also apply an oil at this step to keep your complexion looking soft and smooth. A product with camellia oil like our Camellia Glow Solid Face Oil rejuvenates the appearance of the skin. Its hemp seed oil ingredient is rich in vitamins and antioxidants, and marula oil is filled with fatty acids – two other types of oils that moisturize the skin for a shiny look.

Step 6: moisturizer

Another important product for a glowing glow is a good moisturizer that has ingredients like hyaluronic acid to help draw moisture into your skin. You can search too Ingredients rich in antioxidants such as cloudberry seeds, arctic rose root, arctic meadowsweet and juniper sprouts. Antioxidants protect your skin by limiting the production of free radicals for a soft, smooth appearance. And healthy, soft skin brings you one step closer to a skin made of glass or dolphins.

Step 7: highlighter and blush (for the dolphin skin look)

There is one final step that differentiates the look of the glass skin from the look of the dolphin skin – the application of makeup. To get the look of the dolphin skin, the final step is to apply highlighters or iridescent products and blush for the look of high cheekbones. You'll want to apply it to the tip and bridge of the nose, temples, forehead bones, and chin.

Additional tips for achieving glass skin and dolphin skin

Tip 1: a clear skin diet

Luminous skin starts from within! To achieve glowing skin and good overall health, it's a good idea to avoid sugar, alcohol, processed and packaged foods. Instead, cooking for yourself and with whole foods are habits that affect your skin and your overall health. Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to reduce inflammation, relieve acne symptoms, and even improve your skin's sensitivity to the sun's harmful UV rays. Try eating more foods like fish, eggs, soy products, kale, walnuts, or almonds and see how your body reacts.

Tip 2: Introduce a self-care ritual

Korean beauty philosophy shares similar tenets with Eminence Organic Skin Care when it comes to self-care. To relieve stress and help your skin, we recommend a variety of routines that can turn into fun rituals. This can mean devoting 10 minutes to your skin care routine in the morning and evening. You can visit a spa or create your own spa at home by soaking in the tub with candles. Even long, hot showers can create a kind of steam room! Whatever you choose to do, little rituals where you focus on yourself will help you relax and reconnect at the end of a long day.

Tip 3: move around and exercise

And when it comes to youthful looking skin, exercise is pretty good for combating early signs of aging. Exercise increases blood flow to the skin and improves oxygen transport, among other nutrients, to minimize inflammation in your body.

Turmeric – just a culinary spice or something more? Not only is this bright yellow spice the ingredient that hangs in your spice cabinet, it also has a great reputation in skin care.

Chances are you've noticed that your news feed has turmeric skin care recommendations in the form of a turmeric face mask treatment or a turmeric milk milk latte recipe. So why the fascination? If you just envisioned reaching for this spice for your culinary antics, think again. From fighting inflammation to lightening dark eye eye circles, you might be surprised at the benefits this ingredient can bring to your skin.

Brief Facts About Turmeric: The Benefits of Using Turmeric for Skin

1. Anti-inflammatory properties

Curcumin significantly lowers the levels of inflammation markers in the body.

2. Helps in the treatment of acne

Anti-inflammatory properties can soothe inflamed skin and are known to reduce scars.

3. Supports skin health

Antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties can help prevent outbreaks or reduce existing ones.

4. Brightens under the eyes

Turmeric's properties help lighten dark under-eye circles to bring out your natural glow.

5. Signs of Aging

This golden root reduces the appearance of wrinkles, keeps the skin supple and improves the skin's elasticity.

The history of turmeric skin care

Long before it was added to our slats, turmeric was used in both Chinese and Chinese Ayurvedic medicine (used to treat inflammatory diseases) and known for its use in cooking and beauty rituals around the world. Coming from the ginger family, this spice was used daily in India for at least 6000 years as a cooking spice, perfume, textile dye, for medicine and yes for beauty! Around 800 BC The turmeric trade had spread throughout Asia, including China, and the African continent. In the 18th century, turmeric spread to Jamaica and other tropical locations.

This versatile spice has been incorporated into all aspects of life, from cooking to ceremonies. IIn India, turmeric was used as a coloring and a culinary ingredient in India, not only in curries but also in lentil and meat dishes, chutneys, relishes and soups.

It's also an ingredient in many vegetable dishes like gobi sabji or steamed cauliflower, and meat dishes like turmeric chicken and rice. It can also be mixed with scrambled eggs. The yellow spice is also used in some varieties of Garam Masala, a blend of spices that is almost as ubiquitous as curry in Indian cuisine.

Spices such as turmeric developed religious significance in India and were burned as incense in ceremonies believed to send prayers and purify the air. And to this day, Indian brides and grooms are ritually covered with a turmeric paste to glow before the ceremony. In some parts of Asia, people adorn themselves with a turmeric rhizome root as an amulet to ward off negative energy.

Arab traders first introduced this exotic spice to Europe in the 13th century. Marco Polo, The trade along the Great Silk Road was so impressed with turmeric that he wrote it down in his writings, mistook it famously as a vegetable, and compared its bright color to saffron. As a result of this incident, the spice is now referred to as "Indian saffron" even though turmeric is actually a root.

This well-traveled historical spice has clearly been used for all sorts of purposes. What many don't know, however, is that it derives most of its healing powers from the concentration of curcumin, a super powerful antioxidant.

The Benefits of Turmeric Skin Care: Is Curcumin the Cure?

Turmeric skin care, with its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-everything properties, is the way to go if you want to glow from head to toe. It's all thanks to the connection Curcumin, a type of polyphenol (a powerful antioxidant that contains so many skin-improving properties).

"Turmeric is anti-inflammatory and antibacterial – these properties help tighten pores and improve skin tone and pH balance," says Dr. Taz Bhatia MD, Integrative Health Expert and Founder and Medical Director, CenterspringMD. "In Ayurvedic medicine, turmeric was also mixed with yogurt to reduce acne."

The skin benefits of turmeric are many. This spice is a powerful anti-inflammatory ingredient that can improve scars and dark spots left by acne, reduce redness and soothe irritated skin. Curcumin deserves credit, a polyphenol found in turmeric that has been shown to affect inflammatory conditions such as: Arthritis.

For the skin, curcumin inhibits a protein and enzyme that are needed for the formation of melanin, a skin pigment, and this process helps prevent age spots. As a natural antioxidant with antibacterial properties, it can reduce UV damage and neutralize free radical damage that can lead to premature aging. It also helps stimulate new cell growth youthful looking skin. And if you're dealing with dark circles under the eyes, when applied to the skin, turmeric visibly brightens the under-eyes and reduces puffiness.

Eminence Organics Stone Crop Collection: Skin Saving Succulents

Stone care skin care products are Eminence Organics Classic for a good reason. From our award-winning Stone Crop Whip Moisturizer the best-selling Hydrating mist of stone cultureSkin care fanatics can always find a spot on their bathroom shelf for these perennial favorites that moisturize and brighten the appearance of age spots. Learn how this stone-harvested ingredient can soothe dry skin and minimize the visible signs of aging to improve your complexion.

What is stone culture?

Stone plant is a small, succulent plant that is common in Hungary and its name literally means "a harvest grown in stone". This unique plant can thrive in rocky soils and even grow on its own on rocks. With its shallow root system, it requires very little soil or water to thrive. This sturdy succulent plant is best in a temperate, arid environment, but with a little care can survive almost anywhere. A fantastic use for the stone plant? It's great for Green roofs because they are easy to grow, do not attract pests and are disease resistant.

How we use Stone Crop

To make our stone harvest products, the plant is processed by hand from start to finish. We handpick each stone crop, cut into quarters, then squeeze out the fresh sap, which retains all of the plant's natural moisturizing properties.

Another processing method we use is drying and pulverizing the succulent into powder before mixing it into a skin care product. Watch our Made In Hungary video to see how our stone plants are picked and sorted, hand cut and pressed into our farm fresh produce.

Interesting fact: the stone plant turns red in cold weather. To ensure that products like our Stone Crop Whip Moisturizer and Stone Crop Masque keep their bright green color, we plant our stone plants in bowls and bring them indoors before the first cold snap!

Advantages of stone cultures

Like other succulents (think aloe vera and prickly pear), stone plant provides extremely effective, yet easy, hydration. As President of Eminence Organics Boldijarre Koronczay DAYSPA explains: “The stone plant not only helps reduce pigmentation and (lighten) the complexion, it also helps tighten stressed skin, tighten the epidermis, moisturize, reduce signs of aging and soothe sensitive skin. Here are some stone harvesting benefits for your skin.

Most succulents have a very shallow root system that relies on rain, fog, or dew to provide all of the water needed to thrive. The shape of the stone harvest directs water to the center of the plant where it is stored until the plant has to use the water to grow.

1. Heals dry skin

Like other succulents, stone harvesting has adapted to an arid environment by retaining large amounts of water in the stem and leaves. Our General Manager, Attila Koronczay, Says Dermstore, “Most succulents have a very shallow root system that relies on rain, fog, or dew to provide all of the water needed to thrive. The shape of the stone harvest directs water to the center of the plant where it is stored until the plant has to use the water to grow. “This water retention capacity enables stone plants to deeply hydrate and heal dry and dehydrated skin.

2. Anti-inflammatory properties

Stone plant has been used in folk medicine for centuries for its anti-inflammatory properties. The bruised leaves of the fresh plant or the sap collected from its leaves have traditionally been used as a poultice to treat a variety of skin problems including burns, eczema, and ulcers. This ability to reduce inflammation makes Stone Harvest an ideal remedy for uncomfortable symptoms of dry, sensitive skin such as redness and itching.

3. Brightens the skin

When dark spots appear on your complexion, your skin has gone into overdrive and is producing melanin. This is often due to stress such as UV radiation or hormonal imbalances. Similar to other natural hydroquinone alternatives, stone plant brightens the skin by inhibiting the activity of tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for producing melanin. This will minimize the appearance of dark spots over time and help create a more even complexion.

4. Smoothes wrinkles

Scientific studies confirm that stone plants are rich in antioxidants that reduce the visible signs of aging. Antioxidants such as anthocyanins and quercetin neutralize free radicals that oxidatively damage the skin and contribute to premature aging over time. By minimizing potential damage, these antioxidants delay the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and help the skin stay youthful longer.

Hello! I'm Natalie from Eminence Organic Skin Care, and I welcome you to another of our wonderful episodes of In The Mix. Really excited when this hit my plate because I really wanted to talk about this amazing, amazing plant stone harvest.

It is a succulent. It's incredible. And it's been around for a very long time. Some of us may even realize it. It might even grow right in front of your house. We see succulents being widely used for things like green design to improve our environment, and it was an inspiration for us at Eminence to use them as one of our signature fragrances and ingredients. We have built a whole range that is inspired by this plant and is called our Stone Crop Collection.

When in doubt – Stone Crop It Out

… At Eminence Organics we have this fabulous little tagline that we use, "When in doubt, cut it out of stone" and for good reason. It's good for all skin types; Anyone can use it.

Gentlemen, who I know, also like to use it because it is very fresh in the scent – not very floral – and is therefore very friendly to everyone. Harvesting stones also helps minimize the appearance of redness from dry skin. So if you think of men who shave their face frequently, our stone harvesting products are great for soothing skin after shaving.

(The Stone Crop Collection includes) Stone Crop Gel Wash – a top ten product, Stone Crop Masque, Stone Crop Hydrating Gel, and Stone Crop Whip Moisturizer. Best Skin Care Routine For Men

Whether you are a man or a woman, skin is just skin, isn't it? IIt is our first line of defense against toxins and harmful pollutants. It regulates body temperature and regulates the amount of water and electrolytes. It fulfills the same functions for everyone.

Still, there are some key differences between women's and men's skin – enough that men should consider a Skin care routine and use products specially formulated for them.

Men's skin is around 25% thicker than women's and has a higher density of collagen in their skin

Is Men's Skin Really Different?

What is the difference between men's and women's skin?

"Men's skin is about 25% thicker than women's and has a higher density of collagen in their skin," he says Alana Henrikson, Eminence Organics Product Support Representative. Nevertheless, nature was not completely unfair to the “fairer sex”: The collagen content in men decreases with increasing age, but at a constant rate. In comparison, women's collagen levels remain constant and suddenly drop after menopause.

"These are some of the reasons men tend to age more slowly or the changes may not be as noticeable," says Alana. Men also sweat more than women, and their skin has more sebum due to testosterone. Excessive sebum makes men more prone to oily, shiny skin, large pores, and acne. After all, shaving brings a whole host of problems that women don't face, such as irritation, Inflammation and sometimes infection. Men are also more likely to develop rosacea, which makes blood vessels on the surface of the skin visible and causing redness.

A simple skin care regimen for men

What types of skin care products and what daily treatment are best for men? Like women, men have to do all of the basics: cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturize, eye care and sunscreen. Daily skincare should also include a variety of more potent serums, concentrates, and oils that double the specific benefits of skin care. And a face mask once a week only enhances the good work your everyday life is doing on your skin.
